Review of "Robbery in a Small Town"
By Niet
Life is not easy for twenty-year-old Annie Roberts. Saddled with an indolent and immature husband, Annie frequently has to work two jobs to make ends meet. When she reports for her 11pm to 7am shift at a small knitting mill one warm, July night, she has no reason to suspect that it will be anything other than business as usual. When four thugs wearing ski masks rob the mill, less than an hour into Annie's shift, the event sets off a chain reaction, providing a catalyst for change in Annie's life. "Robbery in a Small Town" is a short but sweet novel that chronicles the hardships and joys in a young woman's life, and the events which ultimately lead to her self discovery and coming of age as a woman. The novel is candid and heartfelt, and Niet's frank and uncluttered writing style leaves the reader feeling as though she has just enjoyed a chat with a good friend over coffee.

I finished reading Robbery In A Small Town by Niet. I would definately recommend the book for others to read. The story takes place in the 70's about a robbery from a knitting mill and tells about the next five years in Annie's life. It provides for an interesting read. I would like to add that Niet is an excellent story teller.

I enjoyed this book very much. It is a concise telling of the fear, but also the courage to face that fear.
The book documents the robbery of a knitting Mill and the story of Annie as her life undergoes changes over the next five years.
I highly recommend this book, it leaves you wanting more.

ROBBERY IN A SMALL TOWN
BY: Kristie L. Speir

I was quite impressed by the book, "Robbery in a Small Town", by NIET. The story starts off with a young smart lady, Annie, who was working a full time job to keep the food on the table and bills paid for her husband and herself, while he just pretended to look for work. The brave young lady was working overnights at a local knitting mill, back in 1972 in Bethlehem, Pa.
When 4 robbers invaded her workplace, the story gets even more interesting and the excitement builds. This short and sweet story about a robbery and the five yr. statue of limitations witch follows the young lady as she grew stronger and matured into womanhood. Within that 5 years the Author makes the reader feel like they are actually in the story. It is a very desciptive book and I highly recommend it. By Kristie Speir |
